TOOL/NINE INCH NAILS Collaboration Leads List Of 'Lost' Albums

February 12, 2007

Launch Radio Networks reports: A collaboration between members of TOOL and NINE INCH NAILS, plus recordings by GREEN DAY, WEEZER, BECK and RADIOHEAD, lead a list of "lost" albums and songs published by RollingStone.com on Friday (February 9). Topping the list is TAPEWORM, a project started by TOOL singer Maynard James Keenan and NINE INCH NAILS main man Trent Reznor that was in the works for six years but ultimately laid to rest in 2004. Demos of the songs exist, and different versions of some of them showed up on the soundtrack of the movie "Underworld" under the name PUSCIFER.

Also on the list is CIGARETTES AND VALENTINES, the album recorded by GREEN DAY before they began working on "American Idiot". When the master tapes were stolen from the studio, the trio decided to start from scratch instead of re-recording the whole thing, paving the way for "American Idiot".

Although WEEZER began working on a sci-fi concept album called "Songs from the Black Hole", it never surfaced. Some of the songs found their way onto other WEEZER records, but most of the music remains unreleased.

Tracks and projects by BECK, RADIOHEAD, NIRVANA, PRINCE, PINK FLOYD and THE WHO are also included on the list, along with alt-country star RYAN ADAMS' version of the STROKES' debut disc, "Is This It?".

The long-awaited new GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democracy", also made the list and will probably remain there.
